I would not spend my youth to sweat blood just "for fun" to show that I am the best in the world ... provided that I manage to get that far. An then, what? You have a nice medal, and a lot of people looking at you like a kind of God. So what? That's it? No wait, you also have your own moment of glory.

This is as strange to me as trying to climb Mount Everest. Well, at least there, if you are not frozen to death, there is a nice view from the top of the world...

I do not hate sport. Actually, practising is said to be good for your health. A bit. Not many hours a day, with strict diet, and everything else... I still do not understand why it is considered so special to be able to run one millisecond faster than the others. On one occasion. Maybe two or three. Will this bring something to mankind? I am not sure at all...

You want to work very hard for a couple of years? You need to prove something to the World? I have a bunch of nice ideas for you:
  • Find a cure for cancer
  • Invent a affordable way to provide clean water for the Third World
  • Increase the efficiency of the use of energy so that we limit the risk of climate change.
I you succeed, then I will have a very very good reason to consider you "special".
